Second prototype ideas (Craig Horsley)

The second prototype idea we were given for this project was the idea of prototyping a single screen, super challenging arcade game which would focus around a key mechanic.

For this concept, we had two ideas:

1. A puzzle game inspired by Sokoban and Marching Pikmin:

Essentially a single screen puzzle game where you would manage blocks or objects and avoid obstacles. The challenge could be implemented by adding a limited number of moves or adding enemies.

2. Isometric game similar to Penn and Teller's Desert Bus

We weren't sure what kind of twist we could add to a game like this, but it did help inspire some elements for the third idea, which is the idea we ended up choosing.

3. A game where the player needs to stay within the boundaries to win, while being blown around by wind which attempts to knock the player out of bounds - they gain more points as they stay in bounds.

We chose this idea as we felt it would be a fantastic idea to develop into a full game from a prototype:
It has clear distinct mechanics, we could add features like local multiplayer to make it more engaging, and even potentially a leaderboard to encourage competition between players.
